DSH Desktop’s direction: daily tasks, workbenches and teams
Three product directions discussed by the Dataelem team.
An open-source foundation, a product shaped by users
Dataelem builds DSH Desktop on DeepSeek Harness. A shared technical foundation still leaves choices about audience, experience and priorities, much as Linux supports different distributions. This article reflects the September 10, 2026 product discussion; historical plans are not automatically current features.
1. Make everyday work easier to start
Installation is only the beginning. Reducing startup and configuration effort and presenting understandable workflows helps people process files, build presentations and complete tasks. Safe mode, templates and a local client provide starting points with room to expand.
2. Bring business material, interface and chat together
Vertical workflows need projects, sources, states and actions alongside conversation. Workbenches organize these elements around a task. A market makes existing tools easier to discover and gives authors a sharing route, reducing the need to explain project structure from scratch.
3. Support centralized team management
Individuals can manage their own models and keys. Teams need shared access, seats, quotas and usage statistics. Enterprise places configuration with administrators and lets employees use assigned resources. That requires business and management design beyond desktop packaging.
From direction to usable features
Enterprise and the workbench market appeared after the original discussion. Read their workflow articles for concrete behavior. To judge suitability, try a real task: is starting straightforward, is the material organized, and is the result something you can inspect?
